Overview

The original Threemile Vineyard website was met with criticism as it did not have much personality. The website was outsourced to a company that specialized in modern website designs for wineries, which left our Founder desiring a brand and website with more life to it.

Threemile Vineyard is dedicated to producing the highest quality fruit to discerning winemakers looking to craft world-class wines that express the distinct characteristics of a unique terroir found above the cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge.

Brand Exploration

Following our discussion, I developed three distinct mood boards, each representing a different potential direction that resonated with his vision. These ranged from a more rustic aesthetic to a contemporary, natural look. The use of Balsam Root flowers and line art emerged as key influences in his preferences.

I met with the Founder to gain a deep understanding of his vision for the Threemile brand. His goal was to create a brand identity that was not only modern and artistic but also distinctively unique among vineyards, drawing inspiration from the rich history of the Columbia Gorge to emphasize the significance of this location.

Logo iteration

After an initial review, we agreed to pursue the rustic direction for the brand and website. I then focused on refining the color palette, logo, and typography. Given the need for print materials, I selected a Pantone-based color palette to ensure consistency between screen and print. To complement the rustic theme, I proposed several script typefaces that conveyed a slightly imperfect, handmade quality.

Upon further review, the Manchester Signature typeface was chosen for the logo, with some minor adjustments to enhance its flow. Copperplate and Montserrat were then selected as the title and body fonts, respectively, to give the brand an elegant and clean aesthetic.

In addition to the website, I also developed a printed brochure for winemakers who are highly interested in sourcing grapes from Threemile Vineyard.
